Shawn was born and raised in Montreal, and has been acting in his beloved city for about 20 years now.
He’s worked in theatre (As You Like It, Dracula, The Real Inspector Hound, The Pillowman, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea), television (Blue Mountain State, Being Human, Bullet in the Face, Ascension) and film (I’m Not There, Imaginaerum, 3 Saisons (which was nominated for 3 Genie Awards)), to name a few projects, not to mention many commercials and short films.
He’s been especially busy in the last few years with voice work, motion capture, fight choreography and stunt performance, often having the chance to combine his love for all those things in video game work. As a relatively new field of artistic development, voice and motion capture for video games has become one of Shawn’s main focuses in his career, having worked for Ubisoft, Eidos and Warner Brothers. His love of gaming and acting, combined with his years of skill and expertise in stunt fighting and choreography, have recently given him opportunities to be involved in projects he would only have dreamt of a few years ago.
He’s had the privilege of working on almost all of the Assassin’s Creed games in the series to date (Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate) not to mention having played Father Antonio Maffei in the 3-part web series Assassin’s Creed: Lineage, one of the few characters of the series to survive into AC2, where he was subsequently assassinated by millions of players. Shawn played head assassin Niccolò Machiavelli in the series, as well as the love-to-hate punching bag Duccio de Luca. He was also Stephane Chapeau, the meat-cleaver wielding, English-hating butcher and ally in AC3. Other titles he’s worked on include Shaun White Snowboarding (1-3), Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Far Cry 3 and Outlast.
Additionally, Shawn was the Takedown Choreographer for Eidos Montreal‘s recent hit, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. He designed and motion captured all of Adam Jensen’s moves in the game, as well as doubling for him in a number of physical scenes.
A few years ago, Shawn poured a lot of time, passion and energy into a very special, personal project of his. Representing a culmination of many of his passions (acting, choreography, comic books, filmmaking), The Punisher: No Mercy aimed to redefine the fan-film genre, by gathering the talents of like-minded industry professionals and combining them to produce the highest-possible quality film for next to nothing.
Completely not-for-profit and meant as an homage to one of Shawn’s favourite comic book characters, The Punisher: No Mercy is now up on YouTube, and has almost 450 000 total views combined! Click HERE to see it!
